Contest entry

Since our desks are only 3 feet away from each other. I ask "hey, aren't you going to enter my contest?" he says, "Well, that would not be fair" I say, " well, you can still submit a photo anyway" Next thing I know, he takes my camera off my desk along with some colored sharpies and heads off to the bedroom. I am wondering what he is up to. I was really only kidding about him entering. Minutes later, he heads out of the bedroom right back to his desk and continues to do his work, So I think...Hmm, that was fast. A second later I get a e-mail from my husband who is sitting only 3 feet away...it reads

I AM THANKFUL...

I know this is not a "OFFICIAL" entry, but I had to share with you all how much I am loved....(in a matter of seconds) :)
Cheers!

colors and borders

meet Little Miss "C". isn't she beautiful??? I am not just saying this to say this, but all the children I photograph are all so beautiful. Boys: you are all too handsome yourselves... But, my goodness... You parents sure do make some beautiful kids... Her mom called wanting a setting of her in a ballerina outfit in a open field. I knew just the perfect place... I hope I did her idea justice...

What do you think about these borders? My husband surprised me with some great new borders and actions for my birthday, and this is my first time trying them out... I think it gives the pictures a little flavor...What do you think?

urban alley session

I wanted to post a video of our urban alley session we had a few weeks ago. First, I want to thank all the parents that trust me and believe in me to photograph your children. Without all of your support and trust, Gina Lee Photography would not be possible. And thanks to all the children who participated in this event. I had just as much fun as you guys did, so thank you for that. And last, but not least. I want to thank my husband for documenting all 3 days of these sessions with me. I love you Chris, and thank you so much for supporting me and believing in me every step of the way...Kiss. Kiss...

In the next few post, there are 2 more videos to be shown, so stay tuned.

Reminder: Don't forget about the November contest. Deadline is on Thursday...

What are you thankful for???

Since this is the month to be thankful I wanted to thank all of you who have supported me and encouraged me to continue to do what I do day after day. I feel so lucky in a way that I feel like this job is really not a job, but an adventure to see what will happen next. I am always looking for new ways to use my talent and explore new ideas, and I could not do any of that without you, so for that, I am so thankful, because I get to do what I love and it makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside.

Well, with that said
Here is the launch of a very exciting contest.
I am giving away 1 photo session(local) and a $200 print credit to be used with your session. ooohh. How fun will this be.....

The contest rules....
Show me what you are thankful for in a form of a photograph.
You can send photos to gina@ginaleephoto.com
Please keep them under 800pixels. No photoshop can be used.
and they must be creative, I know you are thankful for family, friends and your children, but show me in picture... Creativity gets extra bonus points...include name, and phone # in the e-mail.

Deadline for this contest is Nov.29th and the winner will be posted on this blog the first week of December. If you can't use the session, give it away. This will make a nice gift for someone else for Christmas..Ho Ho Ho

I cant wait to see what comes in. Most importantly, just have fun with it.

Do you know me???

Do you really know me???

O.K., Here are some little quirky facts about myself that you may not know about me.

1. I have naturally curly hair...(I use to have naturally straight hair, but when I started to change and become a young lady, it just went bezerk...But, most of the time I straighten my hair. Go figure.)

2. I love sweets. (offer me a slice of pie or a piece of cake, and I am so there.)

3. I used to be a make-up artist. (no lie) I worked for Clinique cosmetics for 6 years. But, I met my husband at the Estee Lauder counter. (Long and sweet story, I will save for a later post.)

4. I love going to garage sales. ( I am always looking for unique and quirky things. One man's junk, is another woman's treasure.)

5. Days of Our Lives is my guilty pleasure. I have been watching that silly soap opera since I was 13 years old.

6. Coffee usually just puts me to sleep. For some, it just perks them right up, but after a few sips, I am down for the count.

7. I love Christmas. (Yes folks, My Christmas tree is already up, and it is not even Thanksgiving yet...) Obviously, it is not real, but it is a really cool fairy umbrella tree. Anyone picking up prints will get to see my most loved umbrella tree...

8. Last one: I am a night owl, as you can probably tell by reading the times I usually post all these blogs. I am up pretty late...and not a sip of coffee.

Now, what I want to know is. Who are you??? I have been writing this journal now for a few months and would like to know you. Who are you? What is your name? Are you a frequent visitor here? Are you a blog stalker? Are you a family member? Are you a client? Or a future client? Are you a photographer? Please leave me a comment, or just say hi, let me know you were here. I would love to hear from you.

Stay tuned.... I do have a contest coming soon..... I will post on this blog very soon.

The graduate...

I did a graduate session a few days ago. This was not just any grad session. It was a grad session from college. She is earning her bachelors' degree in Liberal arts. It was also a very special session close to my heart. See, not only is this girl smart, beautiful, sexy and so fun to be around, but she is also my cousin and I am so happy for her, as like all my other family members are. I know she has worked very hard these last few years to reach her goal and we are just so thrilled for her.....Congrats Melissa..
We started on the train tracks on Orange St. and then headed downtown, one of my favorite places to shoot. We just kind of walked around the streets to see what we can find... I just needed some nice natural buttery light and I was good to go..
"Trust me Melissa" I kept saying... "Trust me". she was looking at me like I was crazy... But I think we got some great shots for the day... Click here if you would like to see more of her session.

The Carnival Masquerade

This was a first for me..."B" called wanting to know if I would like to shoot her girls birthday party. I thought .... Well. I have never photographed a kids birthday party before besides my own children's parties. But kids, parties, good food... Hmm, How could I refuse an invite like that... All of my favorite things.
First, the girls mom is just like me when it comes to parties....although she has me beat by a year or two... I like to plan a year in advance for my kids birthday parties, I have the theme set, decor is all in my head, guest list already on paper, websites visited and then the hunt begins.. But "B" has me beat by a long shot. :). Yikes... We know as the un-official party planner moms that we are, that it is all in the details. DETAILS...DETAILS... DETAILS... Well, here are some shots of the day. The Masquerade carnival and all the glorious details.
