NILMDTS

When I take photos or have sessions, I really am so blessed to do what I love to do and meet new people and capture the spirit of all these beautiful children and their parents, but sometimes I do get calls and it is not the case for all.

On July 4Th when everyone is celebrating, having BBQ's, spending time with family and loved ones, I get a call from Redlands Community Hospital asking for my services… I can always recognize that phone number every time it comes up.. I know this is not a phone call I ever want to receive, but life has a strange way of testing all of us and I answer and I go..

I belong to a organization called NILMDTS ( Now, I Lay me down to sleep).. .

this is a non profit organization that is a free service to families where their baby will not make it or has passed after birth and as photographers, we go in requested by the parents to come in and honor that child or children by taking heirloom pictures of their little one and with their parents…
If you are a professional photographer and are not involved, I do urge you to become a volunteer.. I think it is the most beautiful gift we can give families during their loss and help in the healing process at the same time. And if you are not a photographer, you can still donate to this wonderful organization by clicking here..

a bride in the woods....

It is not all the time you can get a bride to go in the woods and up in in a tree on her wedding day, but it is possible...:)
I had the pleasure of helping out my friend Patrice second shoot a wedding, and it was so much fun...A very nice couple and a bride that would do anything to get those perfect shots.. Gotta love those brides...Here is just a few from their day...Isn't she beautiful in that tree???

so fun to be ONE.....

I don't remember what it was like to be one, but it sure does look fun... Eating grass, chewing on sticks and even grabbing your toes to your mouth.. it is so cute when your one....everyone laughs and coos...see, isn't it cool to be one?...anytime after that, it has a different reaction.. ;)

playing catch up...

Well, the laundry is done, the house is clean and we are all unpacked... the trailer needs a little cleaning before we head out for our next adventure. I think there are some left over mosquito's we need to sweep up off the floor and maybe even some wasp's my shoe accidentally found.... :) Yikes..
We had such an awesome time up north.... it is just nice to just get away and really spend quality time with your family with no distractions... We headed near San Luis Obispo and camped out at Lake Lopez and spend another couple days in Pismo beach. I am putting a slide show up from my P&S pics, stay tuned for that... I did manage to get Madeleine to wander in the woods with me for a bit for some portraits, but it was all over once the deer starting coming around.. Once I get around to those, I will put those up as well... :)




I am now in the middle of catching up on emails and phone calls these next couple of days...

When I did get home, I was a little overwhelmed with more e-mails than expected though... and very nice e-mails at that... I was honored to be featured on blogs of photographers this past week and that was very nice thing to come home too...

I'm back....

are back....and we had so much fun... much more to blog, but that will have to wait..
Chris and I are celebrating our 6 year wedding anniversary tonight...
Six years ago I married the man of my dreams and I love him more than the day we married...I love you Chris...

Oh! The fun...

here is just a sneaker of a sneak peek of more to come on the blog, but for now, I will leave you with this..... I need to get ready to go on our vacation.. Tons of laundry to do.. tons of packing to do and tons of toys to pack.. We are heading up north camping...we are so excited.. We will be gone all week.. so if you need to get a hold of me.. you can't. :)
But I will be returning all calls and e-mails upon my return.. You all have a great week and you will get to see more of this session and a couple previews of some others when I get back....
and if I am lucky, maybe we can get Madeleine and Ryder to do a cool shoot with me in the woods with all their new cool urban wardrobe.. Love that Misha LuLU

Who is Katie??? well it's these beautiful girl's mom of course.... :)
Aunt Kristen is surprising her sister in law Katie, with a session and portraits of her nieces.. I think she wins the coolest auntie on the block this month.. How cool is she?...
I hope you are surprised Katie.. It was a pleasure to spend time with both of your girls... where have I been????

I do have much more to blog, but this weekend I went on a well needed break.. We headed out to the beach... It was so relaxing to just get away from my computer and spend some quality time with my husband and children.. more on that later... but here is a sneak peek of another session coming up......

I had such a great time on this session. Not only did I meet an awesome family, I was also treated to a very relaxing boat ride around Lake Arrowhead. I forgot I was actually working..;)
They wanted their session to represent who they are... They have spent most of their time at their second home in the mountains, so it was fitting we do the session where the kids have spend most of their weekends all their life... On the lake and in the nice warm summer glow.. It was just so beautiful, considering it was well over 103 degrees down the hill..I felt pretty lucky...
